Dr. Jonathan Levy, MD, MS, FACS

Dr. Jonathan A. Levy is a highly accomplished and board-certified general surgeon, with a passion for foregut surgery and endoscopy. He has been serving as a full-time attending general surgeon and foregut surgeon with Sparrow Medical Group at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. In addition, Dr. Levy is also an associate program director for Michigan State University General Surgery Residency, where he shares his knowledge and expertise with aspiring surgeons. Dr. Levy completed his minimally invasive advanced GI foregut surgery and endoscopy fellowship in 2019 at West Penn Hospital, Allegheny Health Network, under the guidance of Dr. Blair Jobe. He also completed his general surgery residency at Allegheny Health Network in 2018. Dr. Levy earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 2013, and prior to that, he completed his Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences (Neuroscience) from Colorado State University in 2008. Dr. Levy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery, and Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery. Dr. Levy's passion for his field is evident in his continued education and involvement in professional organizations. Throughout his career, Dr. Levy has been recognized for his outstanding work and contributions to the field of surgery. He received the Most Interesting Case award for "Delayed Presentation of Pyogenic Liver Abscesses After Hemorrhoidectomy" at the American College of Surgeons, Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter in 2018. He also received the Best Case Presentation award for "Presentation of Pyogenic Liver Abscesses After Hemorrhoidectomy" at the 20th Annual Resident Research Day, Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA in the same year. In 2012, Dr. Levy was awarded the Elizabeth F. Hesser Prize in Nutrition by Albany Medical College for his contribution to the field of nutrition and medicine. Dr. Levy's expertise and dedication to his field have made him an invaluable member of the medical community. His passion for surgery and endoscopy, combined with his commitment to education and research, make him an outstanding surgeon and mentor.
