Rheumatologist | Rheumatology

10010 Falls of Neuse Rd Raleigh NC, 27614

About

My passion towards medicine started very early in my undergradue school when I witnessed the sufferings of one of my close family member who had rheumatoid arthritis. I always wished I could alleviate her  sufferings. During my residency training I was fortunate to work with a rheumatologist who was not only a great clinician but also a very kind human being. This led to my deep passion into rheumatology. Rheumatology is fascinating due to the fact that it could affect any organs in our body. It allows me to think a patient as a whole rather than one particular organ.  I am trilled to be a part of the rheumatology community where I am making positive contributions in the lives of many  patients with rheumatic diseases and improve their quality of life.

  • The Fascinating Story of the Immune System and Rheumatology

On my first encounter with a new patient, I always ask, “What made you come to a rheumatologist's office?” Many of the times I get a confused look on my patient's face. These are some of the common answers I get: “I am not sure”, “my primary care doctor wanted me to see you”, “No one...

  • Treatment

Hi, I am sorry that you are struggling with the treatment of your rheumatoid arthritis. At this time we have many effective treatments which control inflammation and are reasonably safe. These are some of the options you could ask your rheumatologist: TNF inhibitors ( Enbrel, Humira, remixade, simponi, Cinzia), Orencia, antenna, JAK inhibitors ( xeljanz , rinvoq, olymient), rituximab. One medication may not help everyone so depending on how you are doing changing to other therapy could help you find the right medication. Best wishes! READ MORE

  • Severe foot pain

  • Can RA cause problems with swallowing?

RA in itself does not cause swallowing problems. Due to your use of immune suppression medications, you are at risk for having infections, and one particular infection I will be concerned with is a fungal infection in the food pipe (esophagus). Please check with your primary care and if needed a gastroenterologist who could help you in that case. I would also recommend you let your rheumatologist know to look for other causes of swallowing problems. READ MORE

  • Fibro nobody knows

I am sorry that you have not gotten help. Fibromyalgia is a real chronic disease like high blood pressure and diabetes. It is a challenging diagnosis due to the lack of standardized tests. You need to see a rheumatologist. When you see a rheumatologist, they will make sure you do not have any other underlying autoimmune diseases.
