Jerry Thurman Jr., MD, an Internist with Memorial Hermann

Get to know Internist Dr. Jerry Thurman Jr., who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

Dr. Thurman Jr. is a board-certified internist who applies scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. 

In collaboration with Memorial Hermann, he is affiliated with: Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2010. He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, completing his training in 2013.

Holding a license to practice medicine in Texas, Dr. Thurman Jr. is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

In honor of his clinical expertise, Dr. Thurman Jr. has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2017) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017).
