Get to know Podiatrist, Alicia M. Mooty, DPM, who serves patients in Virginia

Dr. Mooty is a seasoned podiatrist practicing at Foot & Ankle Specialists of the Mid-Atlantic in Prince George and Richmond, Virginia. She is trained in all facets of foot care, including diabetic foot care, reconstructive foot and ankle procedures of the forefoot and rearfoot, and trauma and wound care. As a podiatrist, Dr. Mooty maintains a special interest in sports medicine, the management of Charcot Deformity, and orthopedics.

Equipped with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Mathematics from Michigan State University, Dr. Mooty enrolled in the Podiatric Medicine Doctorate program at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then conducted a podiatric surgery residency at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, followed by a two-month rotation at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of a variety of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.

Outside her professional commitments, Dr. Mooty enjoys hiking, traveling, camping, and exploring Richmond with her dog. While at Michigan State University, she was a division 1 student athlete as a member of the Women’s Rowing team.
