Get to know Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Evan J. Conte, who serves patients throughout the state of New Jersey.

Dr. Conte, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, as well as total shoulder replacement. At present, he practices at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute with offices throughout the state of New Jersey, including Mercerville, Pennington, and Princeton.

“By nearly any measure, Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is a world leader in the field of orthopaedics. But it’s not the size of our staff, the number of offices, or even our surgical volumes of which we are most proud. Instead, we base our success on two things: are we improving our patients’ lives and are they satisfied with our service and care. Achieving these goals requires an unwavering commitment to quality.” as stated on their website.

After earning his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Conte went on to complete both his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He has served as a team physician at Princeton, Rutgers, the University of Virginia, and James Madison University.

Building on that experience, he became board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

The doctor’s clinical interests include shoulder dislocations, rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, ACL and PCL reconstruction, multi-ligament knee injuries, as well as cartilage and meniscal repair. He has a special interest in cartilage and meniscal transplant procedures, as well as patella dislocations. What’s more, he has published on numerous aspects of sports medicine, including rotator cuff repairs, ACL reconstructions, and cartilage restoration.

In addition to being a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Dr. Conte is currently a team physician for the Trenton Thunder, The College of New Jersey, and local high schools. He creates a specific treatment plan for each patient, incorporating therapists, athletic trainers, and home programs.

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.
