Get to know Nurse Practitioner, Vince Worthington, who serves patients throughout the State of Michigan.
Vince is a prominent nurse practitioner currently affiliated with Sound Physicians, working with patients in Manistee, Cadillac, Gaylord, and Traverse City, Michigan.
Educated in the United States, he received his undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University in 1989, and continued at the same educational venue to complete his graduate education in nursing practice in 1997. He Then completed a year of postgraduate study to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Later in his career he went back and finished his PhD in nursing.
Passionate about his profession, Vince is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which is a certification body for nursing board certification and the largest certification body for advanced practice registered nurses in the United States, as of 2011 certifying over 75,000 APRNs, including nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists.
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse and a type of advanced practice provider . NPs are trained to assess patient needs, order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, diagnose disease, as well as formulate and prescribe treatment plans.
Vince Started his nursing career at St. Mary’s in Grand Rapids. Taking advantage of the tuition reimbursement available at the time, he was able to work his way through graduate school. He completed a Masters of Science in Nursing and began practicing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Grand River Cardiology in 1992. He completed an additional year of post-graduate work to be certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He spent years in the Cadillac Michigan community working with Grand Traverse Heart Associates and with MidMichigan Emergency Physicians. Vince volunteered for years doing primary care with the Traverse Area Health Clinic. In 2004 he started as a Hospitalist with what is now Sound Physicians. In the Spring of 2020, Vince spent months working deployed to Columbia University Hospital in New York for COVID relief.
Vince has always enjoyed working with new providers and has clinical faculty relationships with many of the universities in Michigan.
