    I’m sorry you’ve been having a rough experience. I’d start out by reaching out to your primary care or attending physician and letting them know your concerns. It sounds like you’re still doing physical therapy (not sure if this is focusing on your knees, foot, or hand) but this is where you get the knowledge and tools to make the changes you’re looking for. Make sure to talk with your therapist about how things are going for you and where you’d like to see more improvements. An open dialogue about your progress, concerns, and goals will equip your therapist with the information they need to adjust your program to meet your goals. If you’d like a second opinion on your therapy you may want to ask your therapist about doing a co-treatment session where that therapist teams up with another therapist to go over your case and determine if your program should be adjusted. Not all places do this type of co-treatment strategy but the facility may have a similar option. Should you need more specialized treatment for your knees or hand, you can ask your primary care physician or attend about a referral to an orthopedist (this is a doctor who specializes in conditions of joints, muscles, and ligaments). It may be a different orthopedist for the hand versus the knees. Once you speak with the orthopedist they may have additional treatment options to offer you depending on your particular case. Get to know Physical Therapist, Dr. Connie Hutchins, who serves patients in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Dr. Constance Hutchins (AKA Connie) is the Founder and lead physical therapist of Movement Solutions in Rancho Cucamonga, California. 

Focusing on an individual’s ability to function, she can treat multiple conditions that affect the bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, brain, nerves, and spine. She specializes in the treatment of orthopedic conditions ranging from acute and chronic pain to post-operative conditions.

After being an injured athlete herself, Dr. Hutchins decided to pursue physical therapy to assist others with injury prevention, athletic performance, and rehabilitation. She utilizes a combination of techniques, including soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, cupping, blood flow restriction, functional exercise, and more that are selected based on the individual to achieve each client’s goals.

She has also started implementing the use of ultrasound imaging in order to assess the quality of tissues during the rehabilitation process in order for clients to visualize their improvements.

Academically, Dr. Hutchins completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and her orthopedic residency at the University of Southern California (USC). She was then brought on as a faculty member teaching in USC’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program and received her board certification to become an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS). She also participated in Gray Institute’s fellowship program to become a Fellow of Applied Functional Science (FAFS).

Prior to opening Movement Solutions, Dr. Hutchins worked as a physical therapist at Rehab United from August of 2017 until September of 2022, and as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the University of Southern California from August of 2017 until January of 2018.

Physical therapy is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physical therapists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, brain, and spinal cord.

Outside of the office, Dr. Hutchins loves spending time with her two children and dog, being outdoors, practicing yoga, baking, and cooking.
