Manuela B. Hamaoui, MD is a member of Summit Health's Internal Medicine team. Dr. Hamaoui is double board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. As a caring and attentive physician, Dr. Hamaoui enjoys treating adults of all ages and believes in creating an individualized health plan for each patient based on their own goals and health risks. She is passionate about coaching her young patients and their families to embrace the long-term lifestyle and behavioral changes with the goal of improved health and a better quality of life. As such, she is currently pursuing a certificate in lifestyle medicine which uses evidence-based medicine to apply medical, behavioral, motivational, and environmental principles to prevent, treat and oftentimes reverse chronic diseases. Additionally, she enjoys coordinating the care of older patients who may have more complex medical histories and suffer from a multitude of medical conditions as well as geriatric syndromes such as memory decline, urinary incontinence, falls, and osteoporosis.
Dr Hamaoui completed her undergraduate degree at Brown University in Providence, RI where she was part of Sigma Xi, the scientific research honor society. She completed her medical degree, residency, and geriatric fellowship at New York University Medical College and was named Geriatric Fellow of the Year. She is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English, and believes in outreach and community service. Dr. Hamaoui volunteered on a medical expedition on the Amazon River and at INCOR Heart Institute, an international cardiac center of excellence in Brazil.
