  • Should I take my daughter to a naturopathic physician for her pain during her period?

Hello - She may benefit from other lifestyle modification processes to help qwell the inflammation that causes the pain perhaps and to also seek to see if there are other underlying factors and/or conditions that are adding to her PMS and hormonal picture. A licensed Naturopathic Doctor will be able to look at your daughter's health picture as a whole and be able to evaluate labs, modify medications and add in natural alternative options too. Depending on your state you may be able to find a qualified Naturopathic physician. You can visit https://naturopathic.org/search/custom.asp?id=5613 for a directory for each state. Good luck! • Does a naturopathic physician treat conditions through medication?

Hello - If you find a qualified and licensed naturopathic physician they may practice to prescribe medications to be able to help all disease processes and/or modify prescribed dosing that is suitable to other health factors they will evaluate. Most use both lifestyle/natural/alternative therapies with intermittent or acute/chronic phase based prescribing. I tend to use the A-Z scale of medicine - meaning I treat most effective, with least invasive, safest natural forms first then as needed move up the scale if prescriptions are necessary in acute or chronic conditions so that we help patient at all levels of symptoms, pain, and healing. • Are there any natural treatments to treat anxiety?

Hi! It is best practice to get evaluated by a naturopathic physician or doctor to evaluate the best practice approach to your individualized care. There are many wonderful natural therapies that help or may aid in reducing symptoms of anxiety. Faithful lifestyle practices with these therapies are best served. This is not a recommendation but should be addressed with your own health care provider - adrenal supportive herbs and adaptogenic herbs have been shown to potentially alleviate feelings of anxiety. However, it is best to be evaluated to see what best combination of therapies may suit you best or if there are other complicating factors that are contributing to these symptoms. Best of Luck! • Is there any natural treatment for PCOD?

Hello, endocrine and reproductive diagnoses need to be monitored regularly by your specialist - gynecologist or endocrinologist. Lab analysis of hormone panel is typically done comprehensively before any treatment regimen is recommended or started. Since it seems you already have a diagnosis of PCOD and have plans for your future, it is important to get things regulated so that you can continue to live a long reproductive life, regardless of your family plans. I'd suggest seeking out a naturopathic doctor if you are curious about the ways we can help address PCOD and start implementing lifestyle medicine and hormone cycling protocols naturally that may decrease symptoms and may improve your status long term. • How effective is turmeric to cure a ringworm infection?

Hello, It is always best to get it evaluated by a practitioner to diagnose a specific condition. There are many rash and skin conditions that could appear similar. Although turmeric has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties, you may need to seek dermatological advice from a doctor. From my experience, turmeric is typically very gentle and most people can consume it well. Topical pastes can be made with a little bit of water and applied to the area until it dries. Covering it may not be beneficial as ringworm is a result of a fungus and we know they grow hardily in moist environments. In my experience again, the use of oregano or tea tree oil has been beneficial - but you must use and dilute in a carrier oil and test skin patch to ensure a reaction does not occur. Please consult your physician as these comments are not intended to be a diagnosis or recommendation for treatment. Thank you, Dr. Franco-Chavez READ MORE
