Invisalign itself does not create cavities. Unfortunately, without proper cleaning and care, cavities can be created while using Invisalign. We recommend that you stay consistent with brushing and flossing daily, as well as cleaning your aligners every time you take them out. READ MORE
When should I see a dentist for wisdom teeth pain?
If you are having pain in your wisdom teeth, we definitely recommend seeing your dentist. It may be a sign to have them removed! READ MORE
How long does it take for amoxicillin to work on a tooth infection?
Once you have started the antibiotics, you can expect to see a difference in the infection after 2-3 days. Be sure to finish the course of the antibiotics, even if you start to feel better. This will ensure the infection is taken care of for good! READ MORE
Can I brush my Invisalign with toothpaste?
We do not recommend brushing your Invisalign with toothpaste. Most toothpastes are too abrasive, and can damage the aligners. For daily care, we recommend rinsing the aligners under water, and brushing with a wet toothbrush, without any toothpaste. READ MORE
Can I straighten my teeth in 2 months?
There is a chance that a 2 month timeline for straitening your teeth may be a possibility. In this case, we love to use Invisalign for perfecting your smile. The short answer is yes, but the good news is we only use topical anesthetic when we perform deep cleaning’s. With today’s technology, they have created very strong topical anesthetics that work very well on the gum tissue preventing you from feeling any discomfort while you were having your teeth deep cleaned. Can you get braces if you have dental fillings?
Bottom line the answer is yes you can have fillings and still go through Orthodontics. Do I need a filling for a chipped tooth?
That is a great question. Depending on which tooth chipped, one in the front verses one in the back of your mouth will dictate what type of procedure is needed to fix the chipped area. Another factor that will determine if a filling is needed would be how much if the tooth chipped and if there is decay (what most people refer to as a cavity) present. With that said, if there is a chipped tooth, the best thing to do is come in for an appointment, we will take an x-ray to see if there is more going on and to see if there is any decay. We will make a determination at that point if you will need a filling to fix the chip, need to have the area smoothed, or possibly even a crown. Again, everything does depend on the size of the chip and the area in the mouth. Is Invisalign more painful than braces?
In answer to your question, is Invisalign more painful than braces? I would definitely say the answer is no. I have personally gone through Invisalign myself, and although you do have some discomfort and soreness as the teeth are moving, it would not be considered painful. Metal braces have wires and brackets that often time cause more discomfort on the cheeks and lips due to the roughness. Using Invisalign illuminates the pain that is often associated with metal braces causing ulcerations on the cheeks and lips. How long does it take to fix a cracked filling?
If you have a filling that cracked or a portion of the tooth cracked around a filling we can replace those with white bonded fillings. Here at General and Cosmetic Dentistry of Tampa you would be in the office for about an hour. READ MORE
Is it bad to drink water after brushing your teeth?
It is best to only drink water after you have brushed and flossed your teeth, especially before going to bed. This allows your teeth to be in the cleanest state possible while you are sleeping. READ MORE
Do you get a temporary tooth with an implant?
Yes, I would provide you with a temporary crown to cover the metal portion of the implant while we are waiting for the permanent crown to be fabricated at the lab. READ MORE
Why do gums swell after flossing?
Yes, gums can swell after flossing especially if you haven’t flossed in a while and then you go in and vigorously floss a specific area or over floss that area. This could cause the gums to become more inflamed and possibly even bleed. There could also be some underlying gum disease present. We do recommend having an exam if you are experiencing swollen or bleeding gums in more than one or two areas of your mouth. Especially if you have not been in to see your dentist within six months. I am sorry to hear you broke your tooth. Teeth definitely play an important part in speech, the tongue and the teeth work together in the pronunciation of words. This is a question that would be best answered by seeing you in the office. Although your pictures are clear, there are a number of things that this could be but in order to properly diagnose them I would need to take a closer look. The tongue does have papilla that could be aggravated and enlarged. But a simple exam would definitely clarify what you are feeling and seeing on your tongue. READ MORE
Can you chew gum with a traditional dental bridge?
Yes, you can chew chewing gum with traditional bridgework provided your bridge work is in good condition, and the gums around it are healthy. Although we do recommend sugarless, chewing gum always. You might find that some chewing gum brands stick less to the bridgework, and that all depends on the type of materials that were used in creating your bridge. The most important thing is nothing real hard when biting on that bridge. Gumballs, hard candies are not recommended. READ MORE

Some teeth are naturally more yellow. The good news is yellow teeth are the easiest to whiten. I see that you are 14 years old, but even at that age, we can whiten your teeth to a brighter white, and give you more of a reason to smile. Dr. Michael Diez, affectionately known as Dr. Mick, is a highly regarded dentist currently in practice at General & Cosmetic Dentistry of Tampa. He is passionate about all aspects of dentistry and has acquired certifications in Invisalign and CEREC-Same Day Crown technology. His expertise extends to various procedures, including smile makeovers, root canals, and the placement and restoration of dental implants, whether as a single implant or in combination with dentures.

With a personal philosophy focused on using his artistic abilities and dental knowledge to create and enhance every smile, Dr. Mick is dedicated to restoring his patients’ teeth to their healthiest state. He believes in providing a warm and welcoming environment where each patient is treated like family.

Graduating from Tampa Jesuit High School, Dr. Mick went on to earn his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degrees at Nova Southeastern University. Born and raised in the city, he has established himself as one of Tampa’s top general and cosmetic dentists, receiving this recognition in both 2020 and 2021 as voted by his peers.

On a professional level, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Mick demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting veterans and troops. As a VA Community Care Dentist, he provides dental care to veterans in need. Additionally, he has partnered with Tampa basketball legend Ricky Gallon, who serves as the director of the Tampa Boys and Girls Clubs, to donate toothbrushes and toothpaste on a monthly basis through Operation Gratitude. This ongoing effort aims to improve the dental health of children in the community.

In his personal life, Dr. Mick has diverse interests outside of dentistry. He is a talented sketch artist, channeling his creativity into his artwork. As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys embarking on weekend adventures in Florida’s waters, often accompanied by his wife, Alexa, as well as his family and friends.
