Expert Podiatrist Combines Passion for Sports and Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia

Dr. Fidler is a skilled podiatrist specializing in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. Since joining Carilion Clinic in 2016, he has dedicated himself to enhancing patient outcomes through advanced surgical techniques and compassionate care.

His journey in medicine began at Presbyterian College, where he not only excelled academically but also showcased his athletic prowess as a member of the collegiate football team. His drive for excellence propelled him to Kent State University, where he earned his medical degree. Following this, he completed an intensive internship and residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., gaining invaluable experience in a high-pressure environment.

To further hone his expertise, Dr. Fidler completed a fellowship at the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, OH, focusing on total ankle joint replacements and complex deformity corrections. This specialized training positioned him as a leading authority in foot and ankle surgery, making significant strides in reconstructive techniques that improve mobility and quality of life for his patients.

At Carilion Clinic, he specializes in a variety of procedures, including foot and ankle reconstructive surgery, trauma care, arthroscopy, and diabetic limb salvage. His commitment to excellence is underscored by his board certification from the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot and reconstructive hindfoot and ankle surgery. Additionally, as an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, he actively participates in educating the next generation of medical professionals.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Fidler is an avid endurance athlete and CrossFit enthusiast. He finds great joy in training and competing, which reflects his dedication to health and fitness. Most importantly, he cherishes time spent with his daughter and family, recognizing the importance of balance in life.
