An accomplished endocrinologist, Dr. Almourani is making significant strides in the field of diabetes management and endocrine health at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. With a diverse background in medicine and a commitment to patient-centered care, she is dedicated to providing her patients with the most advanced and effective treatments available.

Her medical journey began at the University of Damascus School of Medicine in 2001, where she earned her medical degree in 2007. Following her graduation, she honed her skills as a resident at the Damascus University Hospital system until 2009. Her passion for medicine and desire for further education led her to the United States, where she began working at the Edward A. Doisy Research Center in St. Louis in 2013.

Building on this foundation, Dr. Almourani completed her internship at St. Louis University Hospital from 2014 to 2015, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Dr. Almourani further specialized her expertise through a clinical fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism from 2017 to 2019.

In August 2019, she returned to St. Louis, joining the faculty at Washington University in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research as an Instructor of Medicine. Her practice focuses on treating patients with various endocrine disorders, with particular emphasis on outpatient management at the Medicine Multispecialty Center in the Center for Advanced Medicine and West County.

Additionally, Dr. Almourani is especially passionate about the care of patients with type 1 diabetes, utilizing the latest advancements in diabetes technology to enhance her patients’ quality of life. She is also actively researching the impact of over-the-counter supplements on the endocrine system, with a keen interest in the effects of non-prescription thyroid medications and their potential side effects.
