Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Catherine M. Wilkes, who serves patients in Stamford, Connecticut.

Dr. Wilkes is a dedicated and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist who practices at Women’s Health Connecticut – Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates P.C. in Stamford, Connecticut, which she joined in 2017.

Her patients have excellent things to say about her, one stating “Dr. Wilkes never makes me feel rushed and always takes the time to listen and answer questions. She’s my favorite doctor!”

A graduate of the Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Wilkes remained at the school for her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. As a resident, she conducted a study to compare pregnancy outcomes in teenage versus adult patients with type 1 insulin-dependent diabetes.

Following her training, she became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Specializing in women’s health, the doctor maintains membership status with several professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health. 

With a strong background in leadership and service, Dr. Wilkes has worked on volunteer medical teams in Honduras and the Dominican Republic, where she trained local residents and faculty in order to reduce maternal and child mortality in underserved communities. 

Outside of the office, she enjoys skiing, traveling, and spending time with her family.
