Interestingly, studies have shown up 67% effectiveness of complementary therapies such as yoga, meditation, massage therapy and hypnosis. This data is very limited and my have confounding factors. I have had 3 patients attempt and successfully cease tobacco use with hypnosis. So, to answer you question, it's worth a try. Adding cognitive behavioral therapy and/or cessation of medication along with hypnosis may prove very effective, but research would need to be done to confirm this. READ MORE

To answer the question more accurately I would need a history and current medication regimen, but to answer your question, yes, there are pharmacological treatments for this. SSRIs and Naltrexone have been shown to help with impulse control disorders. The most important aspect would be psychotherapy to help manage the behavior.
