Hello, It is difficult to answer the question without knowing the exact etiology of this benign lesion. Cysts can sometimes return. Fibroadenomas can also sometimes recur although not generally in the same area. If you just recently had surgery, then you may be feeling some scar tissue that forms in the cavity. Hello, A surgical oncologist reviews all surgical treatment options for breast cancer. In general, early breast cancers are treated with some type of surgery, +/- chemotherapy, +/- radiation, and +/- endocrine therapy (if the tumor is hormone positive). Dr. Fornari earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the State University of New Jersey at Rutgers, a public research university and the largest institution of higher education in New Jersey. She then continued her education and earned her Master’s Degree in Biomedical Science from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education. Furthermore, she earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Fornari gained fellowship training at Columbia University Medical Center, where she assisted in clinical surgery, managed benign and malignant breast disease, and taught medical students and residents. She performed her general surgery residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in Palisades, where she was named chief resident. She is also board-certified in General Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
Dr. Fornari is a well rounded and caring human being, she has volunteered in the Dominican Republic on a medical mission trip and as a project coordinator for Operation Smile.
The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Dr. Fornari has been named a Leading Surgeon for several consecutive years. She has an extensive list of research, published material as well academic leadership roles.
Dr. Fornari is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons, among others. She is trilingual–speaking English, Italian and Spanish. When she is not working, she likes to travel, read, cook and ballroom dance.
