Beyond her work at her private practice, Dr. Borreson has been a valued member of the Ochsner allergy staff since 2017. Her practice extends to serving both children and adults at various Ochsner healthcare facilities, including Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Ochsner Medical Complex – Clearview, and Ochsner Center for Primary Care and Wellness.
A 1987 graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Borreson went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center from 1987-1990. She then completed her fellowship in allergy and immunology at Tulane University from 1994-1996.
Furthering her education, Dr. Borreson graduated with her Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from the University of New Orleans in 2009 and earned a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2016.
With over three decades of experience, she is board certified in allergy and immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The mission of the ABAI is to improve the quality of medical care by the development and utilization of professional and educational standards for the initial certification and maintenance of certification of physician specialists in allergy and immunology.
During a distinguished career in medical education and practice, Dr. Borreson served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine from 1991 to 1994. She then assumed the role of clinical assistant professor within the Department of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine from 1997 to 2013, and held the role of a physician and educator with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in Jefferson, Louisiana, during the period of 2008 to 2009.
As a practitioner, Dr. Borreson left a meaningful impact on the field of medicine. Her roles as an adult and pediatric allergist from 1996 to 2013, and as an immunologist from 2000 to 2013, with Crescent City Allergy in New Orleans demonstrated her commitment to patient care. In 2016, she took the significant step of founding her own practice, and further expanded her horizons by joining the Ochsner Health System the following year.
Pediatric allergy and immunology is the medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and care of children with allergies, asthma, eczema, and other types of immune system disorders and issues. Pediatric allergists and immunologists treat children from birth through the teenage years.
