  • How long should I have pain after a filling?

Sensitivity following a filling can be normal, swelling near the gum line can also be normal if the filling was near your gum - but throbbing and shooting pains following a filling for more than a day usually mean something else needs to be done. Most of the time these pains are experienced when the patient's bite is slightly off and hits the contact too hard. READ MORE

  • How are full dentures held in place?

For better suction/grip, many patients use over-the-counter products to help keep dentures and partials in. Denture Adhesive comes in various forms and is at most drug stores and local convenience stores. It is applied to the denture or partially in small amounts before being placed in the patient's mouth. • What is a good treatment for swollen gums?

Since the antibiotic was prescribed yesterday, it would be best to try and give the medication 24-48 hours to start working. BUT - If pain and swelling have significantly increased since yesterday at your exam, I recommend following up with the dentist/doctor to see what their recommendation is. Ultimately, the infection will need to be under control/eliminated before safely extracting/treating teeth. If pain has worsened significantly, they may recommend a higher dosage or different antibiotic. READ MORE
