Dermatopathology, is a joint subspecialty of dermatology and pathology that focuses on the study of cutaneous diseases at a microscopic and molecular level. A dermatopathologist, like Dr. De Stefano, is a highly trained physician who specializes in diagnosing disorders of the skin, hair and nails under a microscope. When a skin biopsy is needed, doctors specialized in dermatopathology work closely with dermatology providers to narrow down the potential causes of skin disorders, such as a rash, alopecia, or to determine the malignant potential of a tumor.
