Dr. Bosshardt is a board-certified plastic surgeon. He trained under D. Ralph Millard, Jr. at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, Florida. Formerly a board-ceritified general surgeon, he switched specialties after completing 13 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He has practiced in Lake County, Florida since 1989. His practice includes both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery with an emphasis on cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. He is on staff at AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, and South Lake Hospital in Clermont. An admitted "dinosaur" who does not utilize electronic medical records in his practice, he believes in face time with his patients and sees every patient, every time. He has a special interest in wellness and fitness and has completed numerous long distance events including multiple half and full marathons, century bicycle rides, the 48.6 mile Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World, and triathlons, including a full Ironman triathlon in Panama City, Florida in 2013.   • Do nose jobs hurt for weeks?

    There should be relatively little pain after the first few days. There may be some modest discomfort or tenderness, as well as numbnes in some areas, for weeks after. You should be fully functional and comfortable in 4 weeks or so. READ MORE

  • How long does it take to recover from eye plastic surgery?

    Stitches come out in a week or less. You can put makeup on and look very presentable in 7-10 days. You should be able to resume normal day to day activities in 10-14 days. You should be able to do anything and everything in 4 weeks. READ MORE

    Yes, a day or two after the stitches come out. READ MORE

  • How old do you have to be to have a nose job?

    16-17 is about the youngest for a cosmetic rhinoplasty (nose job). By then, the nose is fully formed. Better to wait a couple more years. Maturity is critical in assessing when someone is OK to get a rhinoplasty. READ MORE

  • What is the best procedure to remove acne scars?

    There is no way to totally remove acne scars. All scars are permanent. You can obtain some smoothing with a variety of chemical or laser peeling procedures to the skin. The deep, "ice pick" scars often look better with surgical removal of the individual scars. Your active acne should be under control before you seek work on the scars. READ MORE

  • Are lip injections dangerous?

    No more than any other injection procedure, if properly done. The only injectable filler I use in the lips is hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero). All others are prone to be visible and can produce bumps. Hyaluronic acid fillers last anywhere from 9 months to a year or more, depending on the filler and the individual. I do not use lip implants. I do not know of any that have an acceptable rate of success. READ MORE

  • How long do buttock implants last?

    Stay away from these, please. They have a very high complication rate. I won't touch them. Your only option for more fullness is fat grafting, sometimes called a Brazilian Butt Lift. If you seek this procedure, please, please go to a reputable, board-certified plastic surgeon who is not going to try to cram as much fat as possible into your buttocks. I personally find the look bizarre. I do not do the BBL. It is the most dangerous cosmetic procedure out there with a risk of death of 1 in 3000 patients. The surgeon needs to know what they are doing and follow safety guidelines for this procedure. Fat should never be injected into the muscles of the buttocks. READ MORE

  • How long does laser scar removal last?

    I find laser scar removal to be very disappointing and no longer offer it. Whatever result you obtain, which will be modest, if that, should be permanent, however. READ MORE

  • How long does hip fat transfer surgery take?

    The time for any fat transfer removal depends on the amount being transferred and the ease of obtaining the fat. Most such procedures will bre scheduled for 1 1/2 to 2 hours on average, but can take longer. READ MORE

  • How long do hip fillers last?

    For any fat transfer, it will be about 6 weeks before you can begin to judge success. Whatever result you have at 3 months should be permanent from that point on. READ MORE

  • Does scar revision surgery work?

    Scar revision surgery usually means removal of the old scar and creation of a new, hopefully less conspicuous scar. It may involve little more than removal and resuturing or it may attempt to relocate the scar or orient the scar more favorably. Sometimes a linear scar can be broken up into a series of zig zags to make it less noticeable. READ MORE

  • How do you get rid of burn marks on your ear?

    If you are referring to burn scars, these are permanent. It may be possible to improve them, but not remove them fully. READ MORE

  • What is the best scar treatment?

    To get the best scar, you start with meticulous surgery and good after care. Once the incision(s) is/are healed, the best thing to use on them is silicone. Patches or tape work best but are more cumbersome and inconvenient to use. Silicone gel, applied twice a day, works well. Scar massage can be very effective but must be done multiple times throughout the day. Mederma is very popular but I feel it has no value. Scars are best manipulated when they are new and fresh. Old, mature scars usually require surgery. READ MORE

  • Is having surgery on your throat safe?

    Are you referring to on your throat or in your throat? Two very different things. Surgery on your throat is as safe as any surgery. It depends on what the operation is, who is doing it, and your unique clinical situation. Realize that no surgery is 100% safe. All operations carry the risk of complications. READ MORE

  • Is cheek augmentation permanent?

    If you mean with implants, yes, but often not advisable. Implants have lots of potential problems. If you mean by adding fat, the answer is that whatever fat survives the transfer beyond 6 weeks is probably permanent. READ MORE
