Great questions. Metal vs. ceramic vs. invisible aligners are all great tools in the hands of the right dentist or orthodontist. As long as the doctor is skilled in orthodontics, you can achieve the same results with any of those systems, and it comes down to you to decide your material of choice. Metal brackets are, of course, the most traditional. Ceramic brackets are more cosmetic as they are more discrete and match with the color of your teeth. How do you stop a broken tooth from hurting?
Unfortunately, when it comes to broken teeth, time is of the essence in treating the tooth, especially if the tooth is at risk of dying. If the nerve is exposed, it can be very painful to touch or temperature. I recommend you see a dentist, even if it's not your usual dentist or an emergency dentist, for treatment as soon as you can. In the meantime, anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen (Advil) can help with the pain of inflammation.
