  • How long after a crown is cemented can I eat?

Most crowns are good to chew on after 2-12 hours. Some are OK to eat with immediately, depending on which cement your dentist has used. Regardless of the type of cement used, it is avoid chewing in areas that have not fully recovered from dental anesthetic to avoid soft tissue damage. READ MORE

  • Do gaps between teeth close by themselves?

Gaps in your teeth rarely resolve themselves. I would suggest an in-person consultation with a trusted dentist, and possibly an orthodontist as well. READ MORE

  • Is jaw pain normal after tooth extraction?

Some jaw pain is normal after a tooth extraction. Please make sure you are following the post-operative recommendations of the treating doctor. If the pain is too intense for you, or is lasting longer than 2 weeks, contact the office right away. READ MORE

  • How long to keep gauze in after tooth pulled?

It depends on what was done. For a minor oral surgery procedure you typically can keep the gauze in your mouth for a few hours, to make sure the blood clots and you are not bleeding excessively. If you are still oozing after this point in time, change out the gauze with fresh, clean gauze and reapply. Contact your dental office for more detailed instructions. READ MORE

  • Can seniors get porcelain dental implants?

Absolutely! When dental implants were first developed, they were used frequently to stabilize dentures and replace missing teeth in middle aged and elderly patients. They are still used in this manner today. READ MORE

  • Can a Waterpik clean dentures?

It will take a while, and it will be messy. If you don't want to use a denture brush to clean your dentures, you can also use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner or an electric toothbrush (without toothpaste). READ MORE

  • Can dentures be done in one day?

Sometimes. The most common technique to get dentures "done in one day" is to do an immediate denture, where a denture is fabricated prior to removing teeth, and placed on the same day that teeth are removed. Immediate dentures (sometimes called "healing dentures") will loosen as your body heals, and are usually either replaced with another denture, or are relined to fit your mouth as your body heals. An immediate denture appointment usually involves several steps, and several appointments prior to the surgical date. Over the past 10 years, there have been many innovations in immediate denture fabrication. However the final result is very much dependent on both the condition of the patient's mouth going into the procedure, the patient's healing ability, as well as the skill of the dentists and laboratory technicians involved. • How long does a root canal take?

As long as it needs to take. Some roots are very simple and straight, others are twisty, narrow, calcified, and require much more time and effort to save. READ MORE

  • How do you prepare a tooth for a zirconia crown?

This is a great question. In order to prepare a tooth for a zirconia crown, the first thing to do is to get the tooth and surrounding soft tissues numb. Once the area is isolated and made safe to proceed, we will clean out the tooth by removing all old restorative material and decay. READ MORE

  • Can dentists fill cavities between teeth?

Yes we can! The technology used to fill cavities between teeth has improved dramatically over the years. Patients are also no longer limited to metallic fillings and can have tooth-colored fillings placed in most areas of the mouth. READ MORE

  • Can you floss between a bridge?

You can still floss normally between a bridge and the neighboring teeth. Flossing underneath a bridge requires slightly more effort, but is absolutely necessary if you wish to have the bridge last as long as possible. There are commercially available floss threaders that will allow you to pass dental floss underneath the bridge so you can squeegee the underside and remove trapped food debris. The method I recommend most often to my patients is to use a water flosser once or twice a day prior to bedtime. There are several brands available, the most commonly available is Waterpik. I hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How does smoking affect oral surgery?

Smoking reduces your ability to heal and increases the chances you will get a dry socket. Please don't smoke after your surgery. READ MORE

  • What are modern dental crowns made of?

Modern dental crowns are either monolithic (single layer of material) or non-monolithic (multiple layers of materials). Monolithic crowns are typically made out of high strength ceramic or metal. Examples include Zirconia crown, Lithium disilicate crowns, or your classic gold crown. Non-monolithic crowns are typically made with a structural base layer of either metal or ceramic, topped with some form of porcelain or ceramic for aesthetics and function. READ MORE

Prior to working at Brar Family Dentistry, Dr. Yue owned and worked in a cosmetic dental practice with his wife, Silvia, in Southern California. In 2015, he and his family visited his aunt and cousins in New England and they immediately fell in love with New Hampshire. Upon their return from the trip, they made immediate plans to transition to the East Coast.

Growing up in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Dr. Yue remembers watching his father, a dentist, at the kitchen table, fabricating crowns and doing lab work. In the coming years, he would go on to graduate from Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology, after which he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

He then joined the United States Navy for a one-year postgraduate residency for Advanced Education in General Dentistry, where he received intensive training in multiple dental specialties and advanced dental care. In 2009, he deployed to Afghanistan with the U.S. Marines to provide dental services and casualty care in Camp Dwyer. Upon his return, he transferred to Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, where he quickly developed a reputation as a skilled, gentle, and compassionate dentist.

In order to better serve his patients, Dr. Yue has completed over 500 hours of continuing education. This extra curriculum includes intense hands-on training in dental laser therapeutics, implants, CEREC, and Invisalign, as well as advanced techniques in oral surgery, periodontics, and endodontics.

With areas of expertise in laser dentistry, implant dentistry, oral surgery, restorative dentistry, Invisalign, orthodontics, prosthodontics, dental sleep medicine and more, he is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry. What’s more, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Orange County Dental Association, and the California Dental Association.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

Outside of the office, Dr. Yue enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children, Kylie and Rylan. He also enjoys running, fishing, hiking, paddleboarding, and cooking. His future goals include winning a regional BBQ competition someday.
