Since 2006, he has provided his services as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Wayne State University, focusing on teaching subjects relating to cardiac and cardiovascular diseases. Prior to this position, he worked as a Research Assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas.
In preparation for his medical career, Dr. Mahajan earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College (University of Delhi) in India. He then relocated to the United States, where he obtained his Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Following this, he completed his residency at the Maimonides Medical Center, as well as received a second medical degree from the same institution.
Wanting to further his education, he did his fellowship in general cardiology at Wayne State University in Detroit, followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Michigan State University.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Society of Coronary Angiography & Interventions (FSCAI), the doctor is board-certified in both interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Holding a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) Certification, Dr. Mahajan is also board-certified in nuclear cardiology, echocardiology, and computed tomography angiography. He maintains affiliation with several professional organizations, including the Michigan State Medical Society and the American College of Physicians.
Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of heart diseases.
