Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Eitan S. Burstein, who serves patients in Connecticut. 

Named a “Top Doc” in 2020, Dr. Burstein is an ophthalmologist in practice with Connecticut Eye Consultants, P.C. in Danbury and Prospect, Connecticut. He specializes in eye and vision care with a focus on glaucoma and cataracts.

“My priority is to make the diagnosis of glaucoma as early as possible and to treat patients the way that I would want to be treated in their situation” as stated by the doctor. 

Connecticut Eye Consultants, P.C. is dedicated to offering patients comprehensive eye care with state-of-the-art techniques. Having the ability to communicate effectively and empathically with his patients, Dr. Burstein diagnoses and treats diseases, performs eye surgery, and prescribes eyeglasses and contacts. He is affiliated with Nuvance – Danbury Hospital Campus, Nuvance – New Milford Hospital Campus, and Wilton Surgery Center. 

After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Boston University in 2005 and his Master of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University in 2006, Dr. Burstein went on to obtain his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City, New York in 2012. 

Wanting to further his training, he completed his internship at Mary Imogene Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York in 2013, followed by his residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 2016. He also completed his glaucoma fellowship at the University of Virginia in 2017. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology nd having conducted several publications, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, whose mission is to serve the public by improving the quality of ophthalmic practice through a process of certification and Maintenance of Certification that fosters excellence and encourages continual learning. 

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
