Levi Deters, MD, FACS, is an empathic urologic specialist who was born and raised in the Inland Northwest in Washington. Dr. Deters is dedicated to serving his local community and enjoys offering the highest standard of urologic care at Spokane Urology located in Spokane, Washington.
Dr. Deters graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane before attending Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He also completed the WWAMI program at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington. Following medical school, Dr. Deters completed a six-year urology residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Dr. Deters spent his first two years managing critically ill patients in the general surgery program in addition to learning surgical techniques from the vascular, trauma, plastics, cardiothoracic, and transplant surgical services. He also finished four years of urology training, where he cared for adult and pediatric patients.
Dr. Deters is board-certified by the American Board of Urology and currently holds privileges at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital, Valley Hospital, and Deaconess Medical Center. He’s also on the committee for robotic surgery for the Providence Health Care System and the designated transplant urologist for these facilities.
Passionate about teaching and sharing his knowledge, Dr. Deters holds faculty positions and teaches in the classroom and clinical settings at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University in Spokane.
Dr. Deters specializes in treating benign and malignant urologic conditions. He has special interests in the management and prevention of kidney stones. As a medical resident, he also spent four years undergoing extensive training on the da Vinci® advanced robotic-assisted surgical system.
Staying informed on the latest innovations and advances in his field is of the utmost importance for Dr. Deters. He offers minimally invasive surgical procedures for the management of bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers, including nerve-sparing robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy for prostate cancer, robotic-assisted cystectomy with urinary diversion for bladder cancer, and nephron-sparing robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer.
Dr. Deters provides laser and shockwave-based procedures for most stones in addition to percutaneous management of more complex and larger renal stones. He believes that effective urologic care begins with patient education and an open discussion about the condition and the many available treatment options. Dr. Deters takes a multidisciplinary approach to urologic medicine.
When he isn’t practicing medicine, Dr. Deters spends valuable time with his family and enjoys exploring the expansive and beautiful mountains and lakes of the region.

In addition, he is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology, whose mission is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as to work with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
