If you have healthy gums and low to minimal sensitivity to begin with, there are a number of in office laser and non-laser whitening procedures that can help to enhance your smile. If there are signs of gum disease (bleeding gums, visible tartar, stains,) or cavities, you may be better off getting gums and teeth healthy before attempting to whiten them to avoid poor results or discomfort from sensitive teeth or irritating active disease.
