  • Is heat good for lower back pain?

Sorry, you received an answer to someone else's question. The answer to your question about heat would be "sometimes." Meaning, usually on a fresh injury or sprain/strain, ice is preferred for the first couple of day.s then gradually work in heat, even alternating it with ice. A lot has to do with how much inflammation (swelling) remains. If there is a lot of restricted range of motion there is likely a lot of inflammation. AS far as the type of heat, I think it matters a lot! Dry heating pads almost always cause more swelling and problems primarily because a. dry heat is very superficial and does not access the deep blood vessels which need to disapate the heat. and b. People tend to leave them on esp. when using an electric heating pad for way too long because the warmth feels good, but is actually creating another layer of problems on top of the original. Deep heat such as moist heat for a brief time 10-15 minutes is OK, but my faforite is diathermy which penetrates esp. into the deep structures and really gets the circulation moving. Thanks for the question. READ MORE

  • Is going to a chiropractor once a week enough?

  • How long does it take to realign your neck?

It depends on The age of the individual, the severity, their overall health, the cars, and the type of therapy employed. As long as the misalignments are not caused by fracture, an aggressive disease process like cancer or infection, and as long as there is not an internal or surgical fusion to the area, there are strategies that can be used to at least improve or enhance. Perfect alignment is very challenging and must be maintained throughout life, much like a retainer is employed after an orthodontist straightens teeth. We typically use specific chiropractic spinal adjustments, and in-office physiotherapies such as muscle stem, diathermy, cervical traction, and intersegmental traction. At home, a person may need to use a specific type of neck pillow plus exercise plus monitor their posture and movement. It takes work to have the healthiest spine but it is definitely worth it if it promotes an active life with minimal to no pain or loss of function as you age. READ MORE

Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain and back pain. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself without the use of medication or surgery.

On a more personal note, he is happily married to the love of his life, Rita, and is the proud father to six wonderful children.
