Is it normal to hurt more after seeing a chiropractor?
It is possible to be sore after a chiropractic adjustment. We always recommend our patients ice for twenty minutes at a time as often as they can after their first couple of visits. All of the muscles and ligaments that are attached to the spine are getting stretched and pulled in different ways than they have in a long time, so they can get sore. Most people slowly get better with chiropractic care, some rapidly get better and then there are the patients that may get worse before they get better. Dr. Lindsey Tevlin, DC READ MORE
Is ice or heat better after chiropractic adjustment?
Ice is better after a chiropractic adjustment. When we are moving the spine, all the muscles and ligaments attached to the spine are getting stretched and pulled in different ways than they are used to, so they can be sore. Ice gets the inflammation out where heat would bring in more inflammation. READ MORE
How do you know if your body is out of alignment?
Great question. Most people find chiropractors because they are usually in some kind of discomfort. However, you can only feel about 6 percent of your nervous system so going off just pain is not the best way to determine if you are out of alignment. The best way is to have a licensed chiropractor take a look at you and even do x-rays if they feel is necessary. We see all kinds of interesting things on x-rays that we would have never known even with a trained eye. READ MORE
How long does a pinched nerve in the neck last?
That is a great question. Everyone will heal at a different pace. Some patients might get better right away with the right care, some might get worse before they get better and some just get better gradually. With the proper care most patients start to feel pain relief within the first ten to twelve visits over a few weeks. If not treated it will probably take a lot longer since the underlying cause of the pain is not being addressed. READ MORE

How can I adjust my shoulders by myself?
It is not recommended that you try to adjust your shoulders on your own. What you can do though is work on some easy rotator cuff exercises that a chiropractor could show you with a theraband. Another thing you could do is foam roll your rotator cuff muscles, pecs, back and neck muscles that would help your should be balanced. Why does my neck crunch when I roll my head?
There are a couple different reasons your neck may crunch when you roll it. If you are hearing noises that sound like when you crack your knuckles that is just air bubbles releasing in the joint. If your crunchy neck sounds more like rice krispies that is more likely the uneven surfaces of your bones (vertebrae) that are rubbing on each other. This would mean you have some degeneration and potential arthritis in your neck. READ MORE
How do you fix middle back pain in children?
Thank you for your question. There can be a number of things causing your child's back pain. It would be best to have them evaluated by a chiropractor. You can also use some ice on the area for 20 minutes at a time in the meantime. READ MORE
How does a chiropractor adjust your pelvis?
Thank you for the question. There are a number of different techniques chiropractors can use when they adjust your pelvis. Some involve the traditional techniques where they lay you on your side and you hear some pops and clicks. Others don't require any twisting and use the table to make the adjustment or certain tools that put an impulse into the joint. I hope that helps answer your question. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor fix uneven hips?
You bet. There can be a number of reasons why your hips may be uneven. Some could be the way you were born such as a short leg. Chiropractors will do an exam and possibly x-rays to help determine the cause. Chiropractors focus on loosening up the tight muscles and strengthening up the weak muscles. That way once they get the hips aligned the hips will hold in place better. READ MORE

How long do chiropractic hip adjustments last?
It can depend of many factors. Everyone heals at a different rate. In the beginning if someone is in a lot of discomfort and in really tough shape it may only hold for a few hours. Eventually a healthy individual could hold an adjustment anywhere from a week to six weeks. Things you can do to help it hold longer is to follow the instructions of your chiropractor. Such as any icing, foam rolling or strengthening exercises they may give you. Those will help the adjustment last longer. READ MORE
