Can my condition be 100% fixed?
Absolutely there is something that can be done. You should see an otologist who will order a CT scan and maybe MRI. Then plan on several procedures to drill out your ear canal down to your eardrum. Based on what your middle ear ossicles (tiny bones in the middle ear) look like, you can regain some hearing, most likely helped with a hearing aid. The cosmetic operation done by a plastic surgeon just puts something on the side of your head which looks like an ear. . It does nothing to get hearing back. But an otologist can help you with that. Depending on the type of hearing and understanding he has, there are several options. Most likely a behind the ear aid since it is easier for an older patient to remove and put back in. Plus it can provide more power. this would depend on his type of hearing loss and the amount of understanding he has left. READ MORE
How long does nasal congestion last in babies?
This is considered rhinitis of the newborn and can often times be associated with the small shape of the outer nose. It can easily last for a year, but I have seen it last for several years, as it did in my own daughter. It should improve on its own. Saline sprays and a humidifier to sleep might help. If there are symptoms beyond this, then your baby might need an allergy evaluation or even consideration of adenoidectomy if the adenoids are enlarged. READ MORE
