Great question. As a pediatric cardiologist, we examine the patient. Most murmurs in babies are what we call functional murmurs or normal noises of the blood flowing through the heart and there is nothing that needs to be done. If we detect a murmur that we believe there is heart disease associated with it, we order an ECG/chest X-ray and often an echocardiogram. READ MORE
