Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Iris Tróchez Valladares, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Valladares is a caring and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist at Northwest Women’s Center in Houston, Texas. Her passion truly lies in helping women of all ages feel comfortable, heard, and well taken care of.

An authority in her field, she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

A Honduran native, Dr. Valladares moved to the United States for college in 2007 to commence her journey in becoming a physician. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She then attended LSUHSC- Shreveport where she received her medical degree. 

After medical school, she was awarded an opportunity to learn from the best. At her top pick was the University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s teaching hospital in Mobile, where she completed her training in obstetrics and gynecology. Her deep appreciation for the south, combined with a desire to practice in a culturally diverse area, led her to Houston.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
