- The validity of using the Rorschach Personality Test to assess African Americans was explored. When matched for socioeconomic status, the study demonstrated a striking similarity between the African American and White American samples regarding personality functioning. However, results indicated African Americans do not anticipate cooperative interactions with others as a routine event, reflecting a shared feeling among African Americans that most members of our society are less likely to be sensitive to or responsive to their needs relative to other groups.
