A 1980 graduate of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Zakko went on to perform his internship in the United States at Yale University/St. Raphael’s Hospital. Furthering his training, he completed his residency at UConn John Dempsey Hospital, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Specializing in the digestive system and its diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
