Get to know Family Physician Dr. Hanna Braden McGehee, who serves patients in Texas.

A specialist in the field of family medicine, Dr. McGehee’s clinical interests include women’s health/OB-GYN, geriatrics, pediatrics, diabetes management, and rural medicine. She is now accepting patients at the Castroville, Devine, and Hondo clinic locations of Medina Regional Hospital, providing obstetric and family practice services.

Medina Regional Hospital has been providing quality healthcare to Medina County residents since 1964. It includes three rural health clinics and three specialty clinics to provide specialty healthcare services to the communities with a mission of “providing quality care close to home.”

Born and raised in D’Hanis, Texas, Dr. McGehee graduated with her undergraduate degree with a major in Nutritional Sciences and a minor in Spanish at Texas A&M University. She then went on to earn her medical degree from the UT Health Science Center, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, in San Antonio, Tx in 2017. In 2020, she completed her residency in family medicine at Texas A&M College of Medicine, where she served as the Advanced Obstetrics Chief during her final year.

Commenting on her residency, she stated: “The broad spectrum training allows you to practice full-scope family medicine, which has been a passion of mine for a long time. I love that family medicine allows you to provide comprehensive medicine and take care of entire families too.

In the coming future, Dr. McGehee plans to practice rural family medicine in both the clinic and rural hospital setting, provide OBGYN services in a rural area, and provide full scope family medicine to the underserved rural populations.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive healthcare for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

On a more personal note, Dr. McGehee enjoys country western dancing, running, listening to live music, floating the river, spending time with family and friends, and anything sports related.

Happily married, she and her husband, Taylor, have a daughter, Aubrey. They also have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Leo, and a Maltipoo, Sophie.
