Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Naveed Iqbal, who serves patients in Elmsford, New York.

A top professional in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Iqbal has over 40 years of academic research and clinical experience. He is currently the Medical Director of Medical Psych Care, where he remains committed to providing state-of-the-art treatments to his patients.

Professionally, Dr. Iqbal is also the President of Advanced Bio-Behavioral Sciences, and the Chief of Psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

In affiliation with Montefiore Medical Center, he has been the Director of Acute Services as well as the Director of Schizophrenia Research Program at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he also served as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry. 

In 1981, Dr. Iqbal graduated with his medical degree from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine in Nigeria. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his residency in psychiatry at NYC Health + Hospitals / Harlem in New York City, and his fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

An author of many peer review articles and guest editor of journals, Dr. Iqbal has presented his research nationally and internationally. He is also an actively sought speaker and has presented over a thousand lectures, traveling widely within the United States and as far as Japan and Australia. He is frequently sought as a consultant and advisor by other psychiatrists, medical colleagues, multinational companies, as well as academic institutions. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
