How safe is laser eye surgery?
Hi! If you are referring to LASIK eye surgery, it is a safe procedure. Of course there are risks and benefits to all surgeries which would be discussed by your regular optometrist. If interested in LASIK, I would see your local optometrist and let them know so they can get all the measurements to see if you are a candidate. I personally recommend going before 40 years of age because your cornea heals better the younger you are and you will get better results. READ MORE
Can an eye infection last for months?
Yes! Depending on what is going on, certain infections can last a long time if not treated properly. If you are having any other symptoms (difficulty or pain while urinating) I recommend seeing your optometrist to rule out bacterial infection. READ MORE
Can you damage your eyes with contacts?
Absolutely! You can cause permanent damage if not worn properly. Remember, contact lenses are considered medical devices and should be used as instructed. Although some lenses say they care made to sleep in, that is only because they allow oxygen to get to your cornea. If you sleep in your contact lenses, you are putting yourself at risk of corneal infections which can lead to severe pain and possibly loss of vision. If you wear them properly however (washing your hands before putting them in and taking them out, not sleeping in them, disposing of them on schedule, etc.) then you are less likely to have any damage to your eyes.
