With a solid educational background, Dr. Lutman received his medical degree with honors from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1995. He then served his residency in gynecology at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1990, followed by his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Duke University Hospital in 2005. He also proudly served as a surgeon and medical officer in the United States Navy for eight years, and completed advanced training in genital plastic surgery at the highly regarded Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty Training Institute with Dr. Michael Goodman, an internationally known expert in the field.
In 2016, Dr. Lutman brought his unique talents and signature expertise to the women and families of the Central Coast. He currently directs the only comprehensive gynecologic oncology program between Santa Barbara and San Jose focused solely on providing comprehensive care to women affected by gynecologic cancers. He also provides expert general gynecology consultation and continuity of care services to women affected by a wide variety of non-cancer conditions such as menopause, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, vulvar, vaginal and cervical problems, pelvic pain, and sexual health issues – to name a few.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, he is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology & hospice and palliative medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
In 2020, Dr. Lutman joined the staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. His other hospital affiliations include French Hospital Medical Center, Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, and Marian Regional Medical Center.
