Can a chiropractor fix a torn shoulder?
Structural damage to the rotator cuff usually needs surgical/pain management/rehab intervention If the symptoms are bad enough. Proper diagnosis is essential in treating shoulder injuries. For mild tears or sprain/strains of the rotator cuff rehab exercises, cupping, and dry needling, can help in recovery. Not all chiropractors use these interventions and a simple adjustment will NOT fix a true torn rotator cuff. Dr. Nicholas Hollendonner D.C. Why do chiropractors recommend ice?
Ice is recommended because it inhibits the swelling by vasoconstriction of the blood vessels. This prevents inflammatory cells from being dropped off at the site of the injury. Although these cells are effective in healing the injury, they also cause swelling and pain to the patient. Ice also helps relieve pain by increasing nervous input to the brain and therefore down regulating your body’s perception of pain in the brain through “pain gating”. READ MORE
