Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Joseph Weinstein, who serves patients in New York.

An esteemed orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Weinstein is the Medical Director of Comprehensive Orthopedic & Spine Care, with offices in Manhattan and Queens in New York City, New York. 

Specializing in the surgical treatment of general orthopedic and spinal disorders, he treats orthopedic conditions including, but not limited to: carpal tunnel syndrome, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, total joint replacements, as well as all traumatic injuries. His expertise in spine surgery includes minimally invasive spine surgery, computer assisted spine surgery, microsurgery, athletic spine injuries, motion preserving procedures and spinal deformity.

With a dependable treatment solution and a unique plan of care, using allopathic and non-allopathic methods, Comprehensive Orthopedic & Spine Care provides a range of orthopedic services. The practice helps alleviate patients who suffer from shoulder, knee and back pain that is often caused by common spinal conditions.

Academically, Dr. Weinstein earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his internship at the Peninsula Hospital Center, he performed his residency training at the North Shore/LIJ Health System where he served as the academic chief resident. He furthered his sub-specialized training in spine and scoliosis surgery at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Licensed to practice medicine in New York, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

The author of numerous articles, Dr. Weinstein has been published in the American Journal of Orthopedics. He is an active member of such distinguished medical societies, such as the American Osteopathic Association, the North American Spine Society, AO Spine North America, and HSS Spine Fellowship Alumni Association. 

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Having engaged in research in orthopedic trauma and spine surgery, Dr. Weinstein has presented his research at regional, national, and international academic meetings around the world, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the Israel Spine Society. His research is well received by fellow surgeons and has been incorporated into their operating room practices. 

In honor of his expertise, he is the recipient of various awards and honors, including Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014, 2016, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2016, 2018), and Patients’ Choice Award (2018).
