Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Shabnam Zargar, who serves patients in Chula Vista, California.

A trusted and caring pediatrician, Dr. Zargar sees children of all ages at Children’s Primary Care Medical Group in Chula Vista, California. She specializes in general pediatrics.

“I have wanted to be a pediatrician since the fifth grade. When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I remember saying, “I want to be a kid doctor!” I have always enjoyed being around children and I enjoy the most laughing I can do when I work with children. Children are so honest, intelligent, and inquisitive. I love conversing with children and having fun with them. Children make me happy and allow me to see the good in the world. I never cease to be amazed at the things kids say or do” stated Dr. Zargar. 

Academically, Dr. Zargar earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2011. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine in 2014.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatricians (FAAP), the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Holding a license to practice medicine in California, Dr. Zargar is affiliated with the following hospitals and medical centers: Scripps Mercy Hospital, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, and Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

As a testament of her kind patient care, Dr. Zargar is the recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Award.
