Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Jiah Jang, who serves patients in Los Angeles, California.

A respected general surgeon, Dr. Jang specializes in abdominal contents including the stomach, gallbladder, small intestine, colon, and various types of hernia. Her practice is located in Los Angeles, California, and she can be found on staff at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital and CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.

After completing her undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007, Dr. Jang went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014. After graduation, she pursued a residency in general surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completing her training in 2019.

A member of the American Medical Association, she is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an organization that was founded in 1937 to assess the qualifications of individuals in the field of surgery. The ABS offers primary board certification in general surgery and vascular surgery, and secondary certification in several related specialties.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the stomach, small bowel, colon, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and various types of hernia. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease, colonic disease, and hernias. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Jang speaks both English and Korean.
