Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Charles G. Colombo, who serves patients in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

A board-certified general ophthalmologist, Dr. Colombo works with patients at his private practice, Colombo Eye Care, located in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He has been practicing in this area for the past four decades and has established an outstanding reputation for providing excellent quality medical care to his patients.

Colombo Eye Care is a comprehensive ophthalmology center offering various ophthalmology services including thorough eye examinations, macular degeneration treatments, cataract treatments, specialty treatments to enhance vision after cataract surgery, as well as pediatric eye exams.

The former Chief of Ophthalmology at Beaumont Hospital – Troy, Dr. Colombo is currently an Associate Professor for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He is also on staff at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital.

Maintaining fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada & a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Colombo graduated with his medical degree and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Specializing in cataract surgery and blepharoplasty, he is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

As a testament of his excellent medical care, Dr. Colombo has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018).
