Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Akhter obtained his medical degree at the Northeast Ohio Medical University before moving to Philadelphia for his residency in radiology at Akron General Medical Center. During these four years, he developed a passion for interventional radiology as he was able to offer extensive diagnostic and clinical service to his patients. He returned to the Midwest to complete his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Indiana University before moving to Chicago, Illinois.
