What is the best treatment for OCD?
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can be treated with psychotherapy and medications. For some, psychotherapy is enough. For others, medications are enough. It is dependent on the individual. However, I genuinely believe that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is most helpful, as it involves helping individuals recognize behaviors that require adjusting while teaching or exposing them to coping skills that are useful for transforming the symptoms. I hope this helps. If not, please feel free to reach out for more information. Take care. READ MORE

Mental health question?
I agree that being observed for a short period of time is important. Many issues can be realized that you may not be able to see for yourself, especially if you are thinking about suicide. However, I understand not wanting to be committed at all. It sounds like you have a bit of obsessive compulsiveness. You could also be trying to escape something. You say that you cut, but not too deep. Obsessing about things that others say and do is a trigger for you. The question you have is 'why' does this happen? If you would like, please contact me so we can talk. I can be reached at 734-237-7199 or by email at unwaveringssi@gmail.com. READ MORE
How long does it take for CBT to work for anxiety issues?
CBT is great for anxiety and can help mitigate the issues associated with it. However, please keep this in mind. Overcoming symptoms of anxiety takes time and commitment. As long as you invest the time and practice the coping skills you are exposed to in therapy, you will be able to gain control over anxiety with the CBT methods used. READ MORE

Schizoaffective disorder?
Transparency can be difficult in therapy at first. However, sharing this information is crucial for helping to fully address your overall health and well-being. The information about your medications should be shared but also share that you would prefer to not take any medication if it’s possible. In my professional experience, the most effective way to address schizoaffective disorders is with a combination of therapy and antipsychotics. Please consider but remain vocal about any side effects or desires to minimize the use of medication. I hope this helps. READ MORE
