Get to know Neurologist Dr. Sudhir Batchu, who serves patients in Columbia, Missouri.

A seasoned neurologist, Dr. Batchu is the Owner of Columbia Center for Neurology & Multiple Sclerosis in Columbia, Missouri. He specializes in general neurology, multiple sclerosis, neurodiagnostics, and neurorehabilitation.

An Indian native, he graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Guntur Medical College in 1981. After relocating to the United States, he completed his Master of Science degree in Microbiology and his residency in neurology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986 and 1994, respectively. Later, he completed his fellowship in neuroimmunology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1996.

A member of the American Academy of Neurology, the doctor attained board certification in neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Moreover, Dr. Batchu is board-certified in neurorehabilitation by the American Society of Neurorehabilitation (ASNR). The mission of the ASNR is to improve the lives of people with neurological disorders through advances in basic and clinical research.

Among his other roles, he used to be an attending physician at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri, and at the South Arizona VA Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Currently, in addition to his own practice in Columbia, MO he is at the Cox South Health System in Springfield, MO as a Neurohospitalist. He also works as a Neurohospitalist providing Acute Stroke care and dealing with other Neurological Emergencies in Missouri and at the Mainline Health System in Pennsylvania.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Batchu has been the recipient of the On-Time Doctor Award (2018, 2016), Patients’ Choice Award (2018), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018).
