Get to know Neurologist Dr. Richard A. Monti Jr., who serves patients in Fairfax, Virginia.

A competent neurologist, Dr. Monti Jr. currently serves his patients at Neurology Center of Fairfax located in Virginia. 

In practice since 2020, he treats patients with neuromuscular disorders, numbness and tingling, neuropathy, muscle disease, myasthenia gravis, dizziness, stroke, seizures, syncope, neck and back pain, and other general neurological disorders. He is also affiliated with Inova Fairfax Hospital.

To begin his career, Dr. Monti Jr. graduated with his degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. He then attended VA Commonwealth University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 2015. From there, he completed his internship at Howard University Hospital, followed by his residency in neurology and his fellowship in clinical neurophysiology with a focus on neuromuscular disease and EMG at Emory University Hospital in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

A professional member of the American Academy of Neurology, Dr. Monti Jr. is board-certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurologists are specialists who treat diseases of the brain and spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. Neurological conditions include epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), and Parkinson’s disease.
