How long should you let a nose bleed before going to the hospital?
Great question, but tough to answer. It is never appropriate for a Dr. to tell you when you should or shouldn't go to the hospital or ER. Your emergency is different than mine. Nose bleed? If you can pinch your nose together about 1/2 up from the tip and hold it for 10 minutes (firmly), that normally stops bleeding. But again, there are a million and one reasons for a nose bleed... I doubt that helped, but it is a start. READ MORE
How can I improve my mental health without medication?
Being 24 and unfortunately being overweight is emotionally taxing, I am sure. You don't want to take medications and I understand that. The first thing you need to do is see a primary doctor to be tested for several issues. Hypothyroidism, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Insulin resistance. Once you have accomplished that, you can start on one of several regiments. The easiest, but yet hardest is to decrease what you eat and increase your exercise. Simply walking every day, stop drinking sugar-based drinks, eating less processed foods. Those tests are very important because they can dictate what the best action will be. I wish you well. When should I worry about a mole?
Moles can be a tricky thing. Things to consider are size, shape, and color: -Asymmetry: Is the mole consistent in it look or does one side look different from the other? Asymmetry is not good. -Size: Is it bigger than 6mm, or the size of a pencil eraser? If yes, that too is not good. -Color: Color that is not uniform is not good either. -Bleeding: Bleeding is never good. Does it hurt to touch? If you are concerned, follow-up with a dermatologist is recommended. READ MORE

What is the best painkiller for arthritis pain?
Greetings, First issue is being your age and having "arthritis." You need a full physical exam with blood work by a physician. 19 is too young for just "arthritis," but to answer your question with a simple answer, is to take an anti-inflammatory. Motrin, Naprosyn, Advil, Aleve, aspirin. Over-the-counter dosing is okay, but you can actually take the following: Motrin or Ibuprofin, 600mg (3 x 200mg) = 3 pills every 6 hours. Research shows that 400mg or 2 pills every 4 hours is the most effective. Naprosyn, 2 pills every 12 hours. Aspirin 3 pills (325mg) every 6 hours, not to take more than 12 pills every 24 hours. Extra Strength Aspirin (500mg), 2 pills every 6 hours. Good luck, but again, you need a proper evaluation, and make sure you are not pregnant before starting any medications.
