Dr. Asima Bajwa, MD, a board certified ophthalmologist and an accomplished glaucoma and cataract surgeon, has been making waves in the medical community with her expertise and patient-centered approach. Based at Champlain Ophthalmology in Bethesda, Maryland, she is dedicated to providing top-notch care for patients with various eye conditions.

Dr. Bajwa’s practice encompasses a wide range of ophthalmic services, including the treatment of glaucoma, uveitis, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, and general eye health issues. She is known for her proficiency in employing cutting-edge techniques in microinvasive glaucoma and cataract surgeries, offering advanced solutions such as astigmatism-correcting toric and multifocal lenses to her patients.

Graduating with her Medical Degree from Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Dr. Bajwa was recognized as the Best Graduate of the Year and was awarded prestigious accolades like the Presidential Gold Medal, 5 University Gold Medals, and a Silver Medal. During her residency in ophthalmology at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C., she was honored to serve as Chief Resident. 

Furthering her training, Dr. Bajwa completed a glaucoma fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by a uveitis clinical research fellowship at Massachusetts Eye Research & Surgery Institute under the guidance of the esteemed Dr. Stephen Foster.

As a board certified ophthalmologist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Dr. Bajwa has a wealth of experience in the field. She previously worked at the University of Virginia as a glaucoma research coordinator, where she actively engaged in clinical trials under the mentorship of Peter A. Netland, MD, PhD.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Bajwa is deeply involved in humanitarian efforts, volunteering with Humanity First, USA, and contributing her expertise to international ophthalmology missions in countries like Guatemala and Burkina Faso.
