Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Argyro Papafilippaki, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

A highly trained cardiologist, Dr. Papafilippaki is an attending physician at the Bassett Medical Center and Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

Bassett Medical Center is a 180-bed, acute care inpatient teaching facility in Cooperstown, New York. It offers 24-hour emergency and trauma care, comprehensive cancer and heart care, dialysis, and most medical and surgical specialties. 

Cobleskill Regional Hospital is a proud not-for-profit subsidiary of the Bassett Healthcare Network. The hospital is Schoharie County’s only provider of acute inpatient medical care, emergency care, short-stay inpatient rehabilitation, and many other diagnostic and therapeutic services.

A native of Greece, Dr. Papafilippaki graduated with her medical degree from the University of Athens School of Health Sciences. After relocating to the United States, she completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Finally, she completed her fellowship in cardiovascular disease at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center - Tufts University.

With an unwavering commitment to her specialty, the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
