Interested in understanding how sleep contributes to adverse health outcomes, Dr. Borker is currently investigating the biological mechanisms by which sleep dysregulation predisposes to inflammation and cardiovascular disease in persons with chronic HIV infection. Her past research has included utilizing polysomnogram measures to subphenotype obstructive sleep apnea and examining the incidence of subclinical interstitial lung abnormalities in patients with underlying obstructive sleep apnea. She also has several publications in the Journal of Neuroscience examining conformational changes of NMDA receptor proteins during gating.
