Get to know Clinical Pharmacist Christine Rainey, who worked in Ferndale, Michigan.

Recognized as one of “America’s Top Pharmacists”, Christine specialized in psychiatry, neurology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, sleep disorders, womens’ health, and Desert Storm syndrome/chem-bio issues.

Retired from practice, she served as the Director of Pharmacy (volunteer position) at the FernCare Free Clinic, where she was responsible for all aspects of pharmacy practice at a 503(C) not-for-profit community-based health clinic in Ferndale, Michigan. 

In regards to her educational background, Christine took 4-year summer sessions for chain drug executives, taught by Harvard graduate School of Business professors. She then earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Wayne State University in 1977.

On a professional level, she was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Canada Pharmacy Association, the Michigan Pharmacists Association, the Oakland County Pharmacists Association, and the Wayne State University Pharmacy Alumni Association.

Teaching students, Christine has been serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences of Wayne State University since March of 2019.

Pharmacy is the health science that links medical science with chemistry and it is charged with the discovery, production, control, disposal, safe and effective use of drugs. The practice of pharmacy requires excellent knowledge of drugs, their mechanism of action, side effects, interactions, mobility, and toxicity. Pharmacists, also known as chemists or druggists, are health professionals who specialize in the use of medicines, as they deal with the composition, effects, mechanism of action, and proper and effective use of drugs.

With an unwavering commitment to her speciality, Christine has extensive writing experience in psychiatry, neurology, infant nutrition, urology, asthma, and aesthetic surgery. She has also written materials for womens’ health, arthritis, addiction neurobiology, HIV, and hepatitis B.

On a more personal note, she enjoys lecturing and gardening.
